Fun and educational material for your Domestic Church!
"You are lacking in one thing.
Go, sell what you have, and give to the poor
and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me." Mark 10:21
Come be with us today. Fill our hearts with joy. Fill our minds with learning. Fill our Domestic Church with peace. Fill our lessons with fun. Fill our relationships with kindness. Fill our church with love. Amen
Read today's Scripture together as a family
Create a Sacred space in your home where you can read Scripture and pray together both as a family and alone whenever you would like to spend some quiet time with the Lord. He would love that and is always waiting to hear from you and spend time with you!
Psalm 90:12-13, 14-15, 16-17
AFTER READING TODAY'S READINGS, DISCUSS THE FOLLOWING TOGETHER
We all know the commandments. We work to keep them, but to sell everything we have?! To give to all we have to the poor and follow Christ?! This challenge made the man in today's Gospel walk away sad, and it probably would make us do the same thing. Our things, our activities, our desire to have or be more than others - all these might stand in the way of following Christ the way we are called to. What Jesus is saying to us today is that nothing should stand in the way of doing for Him and for others. We don't really have to sell all we have, but we do need to make sure that we keep everything else in our lives where it needs to stay - out of the way of our path toward following Christ! Are there obstacles that get in our family's path to Christ? How can we move them or find ways to get through them?
Manna from Heaven!
3rd grade discussed the Passover and the Israelites' journey through the desert where God fed them Manna to satisfy their hunger and give them the strength for the journey. As a family write down all the ways you can think of that God gives us the strength for the journey of following Him. How does the Eucharist give us this strength? Then take cotton balls or anything that you have a lot of and is little and round, resembling manna, and sprinkle it on the ground like manna from Heaven. When someone says "Go!" race to see who can pick up the most "manna"! The catch is that you can't use your hands! You have to use a large spoon, or anything else that you have to pick up the "manna."
