Instilling a foundation of faith in our youngest members
October 10, 2021: 28th Sunday of Ordinary Time
"You are lacking in one thing.
Go, sell what you have, and give to the poor
and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me." Mark 10:21
Read today's scripture readings as a family
Create a Sacred space in your home where you can read Scripture and pray together both as a family and alone whenever you would like to spend some quiet time with the Lord. He would love that and is always waiting to hear from you and spend time with you!
Psalm 90:12-13, 14-15, 16-17
AFTER READING TODAY'S READINGS, DISCUSS THE FOLLOWING TOGETHER
We all might know the commandments, and work to keep them, but to sell everything we have?! To give to all we have to the poor and follow Christ?! This challenge made the man in today's Gospel walk away sad, and it probably would make us do the same thing. Our things, our activities, our desire to have or be more than others - all these might stand in the way of following Christ the way we are called to. What Jesus is saying to us today is that nothing should stand in the way of doing for Him and for others. We don't really have to sell all we have, but we do need to make sure that we keep everything else in our lives where it needs to stay - out of the way of our path toward following Christ! What can we do as a family to make more room for Christ? Are there things that we need to give up or at least think about differently so that they are not more important to us than God?
Fill the Giving Cup!
The children made their very own "Giving Cup" today in class. They are also bringing home a piece of paper with ways that they can give of themselves in order to better follow Christ. Help them cut out the task and place it in their cup as they complete it. They also have a blank sheet for you to come up with ways of giving of yourselves as a family. Fill this page out, take a picture of your page after filling it out and post it on the website portal. Then, work as a family to complete those tasks and place them in the giving cup!
Praise & Worship
